What qualities do you like in a sales assistant when you're the one doing the shopping?
Someone with a smile on their face who enjoys what they're doing and has a passion for what the store is offering
How do you like to be treated by cashiers/check-out staff when you're buying something?
I like to be shown respect by a cashier/check out personnel as it reflects not only themselves but the shop in question, and respect from the check out and cashier team goes a long way for the customer experience.
What draws you to apply for a job in retail?
I'm attracted to the retail sector because I enjoy a challenge and problem solving, but I also enjoy interactions with customers and being able to be a part of a team that plays a vital role in the retail sector. I can think fast on my feet, adapt to any given situation, and most importantly get the job done with a smile on my face.
Outside of work how do you like spending your time doing?
I like to play music, go cycling, travel, participate in the performing arts (both on and off stage), and play classic video games like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. I also enjoy spending time with my family (including my grandparents, who's lawns I mow every Sunday), my partner and her son, and my friends.
How would you describe your management style?
Fair, Hands-on, Confident, Reasonable, and Empowering. Without a good team, you have no chance of success so I try and uplift my team and help them as much as possible while still being firm when needed.
What's your favourite music to put on in the store on a Friday?
I like to mix it up and play a variety of music throughout the week, but on a Friday when I'm working in the office I'll play a variety of music from rock to Top 40 Pop/R and B music. When customers are in the store I put that to one side and read the room to determine the background music.
What qualities do you think make a good manager?
Attention for detail, relatable, creative thinker, hands-on, trustworthy, and able to engage with customers and provide an enjoyable retail experience.
What's your dream job and why?
My dream job would be to be the CEO of an organization and use my skills learnt as part of my current role as President and CEO of SAWIT to take an organization to another level while still being relatable enough to go back into the trenches to see how things are going and adjust an organization's services to suit (such as Greg Foran, who is currently CEO of Air New Zealand and was previously CEO of Wal Mart in America, both with this style of leadership).
